Unlike physical property (like a car, a lawnmower, a pair of sunglasses, a piece of candy), Intellectual Property (IP) represents creative expressions, such as movies, music, articles, videos, games, photos, computer programs, or even a website. Typically, whoever creates the IP (or pays for its creation), owns the copyright, and it is up to them to decide whether or not to release their property to the public domain, making it free to anyone who wants it. However, just because something has been published doesn’t mean that it is free for the taking.

Unfortunately, a lot of people seem to think the Internet is an open candy dish, and that they can take whatever they see. It’s ok to enjoy the websites you visit; it’s not ok to copy and take stuff to be your own without permission of the copyright holder.

Please, feel free to enjoy my photography and share the links and web addresses you like. And if you see something you really like, please feel free to purchase a print or gift item. But, don’t make your own copies or prints. That is stealing. Do not use any of the images you find on my site either editorially or commercially without first obtaining the appropriate usage license; otherwise, that would be a copyright violation (This also includes hotlinking images from my site without permission!).
